When you utilize sources for an assignment or paper, it is important for you to cite the information correctly in order to avoid accusations of plagiarism. There are two main style guides used for writing academic papers, MLA (Modern Language Association) and APA (American Psychological Association). There is a third style that you may be exposed to in college called Chicago, but you will most likely not use that while at Deland High. Most teachers at DHS require students to use the MLA format, however some teachers do use ALA. Make sure you ask your teacher which format they want you to use. In addition, be sure that you are aware of any specific assignment guidelines. Your teacher may have preferences that differ from the standard style.
